Automation of a pilot plant to simulate corrosion in cooling towers in zero effluent plants. This project proved to be very interesting as we were now dealing with corrosion measuring instruments, and heat exchangers to have a consistent “Delta T”, or temperature difference, across the heat exchanger. PH and flow are also measured and logged for development of the chemicals used to prevent scale and corrosion build up. Reporting is done via Microsoft Excel and the system can SMS from the PLC to the manager for critical alarms.
